Tony Cunzio Participates in Irrigation Panel at the Asia Golf Show

December 2012

One of the most important aspects of the Asia Golf Show is its focus on education. To show our support for this type of outreach, Tony Cunzio, Flagstick’s vice president & general manager, was pleased to join five distinguished colleagues in a panel on irrigation systems. The panel was sponsored by the Golf Course Builders Association of America.

Tony, whose career has included working for both Toro and Rainbird, explained to attendees the importance of installing a high-quality irrigation system from the start. Too many projects elect to save money during construction by installing sub-standard systems, but they pay dearly for this decision within a few years when those systems fail.

The panelists discussed a range of issues from the importance of hiring an independent irrigation consultant, to the consequences of not using high-quality irrigation parts.

The panelists made use of photographs from real irrigation failures and success stories to show the difference that irrigation can make to a course’s aesthetic appeal, and its bottom line.

The audience included many superintendents whose questions at the end allowed the panelists to address real irrigation issues that are arising on courses throughout Asia today.
