Hard Work and Team Effort Pay Off at Tianjin Pearl Beach International Country Club
August 2012
Construction continues to move along smoothly at Tianjin Pearl Beach International Country Club, where Flagstick is managing construction of this Tripp Davis & Associates remodel. Working alongside Tripp Davis and his team, Guangdong Machinery (contractor) and Keppel Land China (developer), the golf course is taking shape beautifully and will be a must-play when it opens next spring.
Construction started last November, just before north China’s frigid winter hit Tianjin. Despite the weather, significant progress was made during the winter months, and since spring all facets of construction have been humming along. The first four holes are now fully grassed (tees and greens were drop-seeded, while fairways and rough were hydro-seeded) and we expect the entire property to be completely grassed by October 1st. An expat superintendent has now been hired to oversee the grow-in process as grassed areas are turned over to Keppel Land China.
Besides grassing there is significant progress elsewhere on-site: lake construction is complete, cart paths and curbing are finished throughout the property, and construction of the stream network is 90% complete, with only installation of the recirculation pump left to perform. Bunker edgework and drainage trenching is finished, and the bunkers now await installation of drainage pipe, liner and sand.
Additional areas of notable progress include the following: sand capping has been finished throughout the property, except at the practice facility which is now in-process, bridges (five in total) have been completed except for a few finishing touches, and over 700 trees have been planted on the front nine, with less than 75 remaining to be planted.
Tianjin Pearl Beach International Country Club is scheduled for a grand opening in May or June of 2013, and with the excellent work being done by all parties on site, the golf course should be looking spectacular by that time.
